The Chairman of the Commission held working meeting with Director of the USAID Nove Pravosuddya Justice Sector Reform Program

12 October 2016 Mr. Sergii Koziakov, the Chairman of the Commission hosted Mr. Devid Von, Director of the USAID Nove Pravosuddya Justice Sector Reform Program.
The working meeting, dedicated to discussion of cooperation areas between the Commission and the Program was also attended by Mrs. Nataliya Petrova, Deputy Director of the Program, Mrs. Lesya Nechiporenko and Mrs. Anna Sukhova, legal advisers of the Program, Mr. Andriy Vasylenko, the member of the Commission, Mrs. Olena Ponomarenko, Chief of the Secretariat of the Commission as well as Mrs. Polina Kazakevych, Head of International Cooperation Department of the Commission's Secretariat.
Mr. Sergii Koziakov informed the participants about ongoing work of the Commission in the preparation to the new Supreme Court competition.
Also, the Chairman of the Commission praised the work of the USAID "FAIR Justice" Project and expressed appreciation for provided assistance to the Commission by the Project and stressed that the Commission remains open for further perspective dialogue and enormously requires long-term support due from the Program.
The parties agreed to further provide technical support and expertise to the Commission, especially in the context of competition to Supreme Court and other procedures of the Commission in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the Judiciary and the Status of judges", which came into force on 30 September 2016.

The USAID Nove Pravosuddya Justice Sector reform Program starts its work in October 2016 and will operate until February 2021 and implemented in order to support the Judiciary, Government, Parliament, Civil Society and the people in Ukraine in the implementation of judicial reform taking into account the Constitutional changes in 2016 and Strategy to reform the judicial system and adjacent legal institutions for 2015-2020.
The USAID Nove Pravosuddya Justice Sector reform Program builds on the achievements of the USAID "FAIR Justice" Project and will use its progress for coordination of close cooperation with Ukrainian partners, USAID projects, and the US Government and other projects of International donor organizations in Ukraine.
The objectives of the Program are: to strengthen judicial independence and self-government; accountability and transparency of the judiciary; improve the quality of legal education for improving professional training for the judiciary; empowerment of access to justice and human rights.
